There seems to be a controversy as to whether or not bedbugs today possess any immunity to DDT leftover from the 50s. As I’ve read it, nothing was supposed to ever really get to be immune to DDT; in some cases an avoidance responce was mistaken for immunity.

One article I turn up notes:

"DDT kills insects by opening sodium ion channels in their neurons (nerve cells), leading to spasms and eventual death. ..."

I have a sort of a hard time seeing how anything could become immune to that...

I have a novel idea.

Why not take a bedbug infested house, spray it with DDT, and prove to us DDT does not work? hmmm?

They won’t because it will prove them liars.
