"Generations," as generally understood among those in our our language group, are convenient cultural categories but wholly illusory when the chips are down. They make a poor substitute for a dependable extended family, artificial or otherwise, with less objective reality than the brotherhood among a mob.
We elect to reproduce, rather than murder our posterity in the womb or expose them at birth, for reasons related to your own faith that there are those among the next "generation" who might improve upon the human condition, a situation we each inherit without being asked if we like the idea.
