I listen to WMAL on my phone here in Memphis for Rush, Sean and Mark, because it seems to stream well. Never heard Gandy even though they were advertising for him just hours ago.

Fred is fabulous—funny, wise, witty, literate, kind. His wife is a fireball, full of passion on the subject of Islam as well as full of good research. Fred survived after strong-minded sidekick Andy Parks was laid off last year and was teamed with a nice but wishy-washy young guy. I don’t know what the station is going to do for drivetime talent now, because I don’t think anybody is going to tune in to listen to wishy-washy niceness. WMAL commanded the market for DC’s conservatives but is sure going to lose market share now.

Chris Plante, who occupies the 9-12 slot, is also very forceful on the subject of Islam. He was fired a a few years ago but the station was unsuccessful in finding a replacement for him who would draw enough listeners in a well-heeled demographic, so after a year or so they brought him back to great rejoicing. I imagine he’s going to have to make an ethical choice about reining in his opinions about Islam now, too.

CAIR was successful in getting Michael Graham fired. They’re just drunk with power now that they can control an ABC-affiliate major-market radio station. I suppose next they’ll ask for Chris Plante and Mark Levin to be taken off.
