When will the football team have the same demise?

Insanity...pure insanity.

When it quits turning a profit. There's been misinformation running around for a while that collegiate sports teams lose money. The fact is that football makes huge money, and finances just about all the other sports.

The University of Texas football program turns something like $40 million profit. The entire athletic department, including the football program, turns something like a $5 million profit (numbers are approximate, I don't have the exact ones in front of me.) This means the other programs LOSE a combined about $35 million.

Football goes, ALL athletic programs go. Football pays the freight.

California State University’s decision to strictly adhere to Title IX help end football for Long Beach State, CS Fullerton, CS Northridge, and others meant players going out of state to play football at the likes of Nevada and Boise State.
