Senator Greg Evers Open Carry Bill is Not Enough
OpenCarry.org Calls on the Florida Senate Committee on Criminal Justice to Remove the License Requirement from the Open Carry Bill
---------
Next week the Florida Senate Committee on Criminal Justice will hold a hearing on Senator Greg Evers SB 234 which would decriminalize the open carry of properly holstered handguns in Florida. SUBJECT: Remove license requirement to open carry in SB 234
Dear Senator,
This e-mail is to express my support for Senate Bill 234, but also to urge you to remove the license requirement to open carry.
Most states allow open carru without the need for a license. A license is not needed to exercise any other right in the Bill of Rights, so now's not the time to do this for the Second Amendment.
Sincerely,
Virginia has unlicensed open carry.
Many states do, including Pennsylvania.
Vermont, Alaska, and Arizona allow open carry. Cali also does, but it must be UNLOADED, as I recall. The same is technically also true for Illinois, but you will be arrested there if you try it. Also arrested in Texas, except for rifles or shotguns, but there, unlike Illinois, you can at least GET a concealed carry license.

All the yellow states allow unrestricted open carry, and orange states with some restrictions. Green states require a license to open carry.
Seven states have no legal right to open carry, of which five of them have legislation moving to correct this infringement. Only New York and Illinois have no chance of permitting open carry in the near future.
