Hence the primaries! We can all nominate anyone we wish; anyone at all can run given sufficient funds and registration. But the primary race will determine the party candidate.
Hopefully, the primary will "ease out" those candidates who are pretty much "unelectable" on the national stage.
What with "Super Tuesday", the Iowa caucus, the state primaries, and the convention....a candidate will emerge.
Money, power, influence, personal attacks, spin, lobbying, bias, deal making, whore-mongering....and a host of other useful and time tested political measures will ensure that only the best possible candidate will emerge from the process to lead his or her party forward to victory.
One wonders...with all the "safeguards" in place...how in the hell a foreign born empty suited narcicist and a white haired old man managed to become the two candidates back in '08.
One can also only hope the process has improved since them.
That belief is a prescription for disaster.
You are forgetting that in 2008, any R was going to be able to beat a half-Black, non-credentialed, inexperienced, suspected Muslim.
Election are not decided by Conservatives or Liberals. We and they vote for one of the two final candidates who best represents our ideals. Of course, we sometimes stay home because the candidate is not Conservative "enough." Libs do not make that mistake.
That gives us and the libs both about 40% of the vote.
The remaining 20%, the true independents, the Soccer Moms, they are the ones we need to appeal to, and we don't do that by nominating unelectable candidates.
Had we nominated Castle in Delaware and Lowden in Nevada, Harry Reid be back in Searchlight, and we would have a much closer Senate.
I didn't believe that any REPUBLICAN could beat zer0 in 2008. I didn't think McCain could beat anybody. I didn't want to vote for him. I voted for Sarah.
I said "Conservative."
I said "2012."
Different context. Different year. Different circumstances. Different conflicts. Different priorities.
Different outcomes.
Jim DeMint - President
Marco Rubio - Vice President
John Bolton - Sec. of State
Allen West - Sec. of Defense
Bobby Jindal - Sec of the Interior
Rep. Tom Price (GA) - Health & Human Services Secretary
Paul Ryan - Treasury Secretary
Darrell Issa - US Attorney General
A bigger problem than having too many candidates is having a so called “electable candidate”.. blah blah blah moderate rino rnc/dnc money pit connected candidate FORCED on us
We NEED the GOOOH candidate selection process to function NOW !!
Those who do not remember history are condemned to repeat it.
The biggest mistakes CONSERVATIVES make is thinking that the PRIMARY is the candidate selection process.. it is NOT and can NOT function as such in this day and age.. that system is dead.. gone.. kaput... the REAL candidate selection process starts NOW and ENDS with the PRIMARY... we can’t rely on the BROKEN/CORRUPTED GOP Primary process to choose our UNELECTABLE candidate.. it is time for INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVES to take back our County and tell the GOP/RNC/DNC to take they money and GOOOH home !
Your implication that we are relying on a blind faith in such a concept is insulting. What do you think we're doing here discussing these things for?
You don't read what other write, do you? You just spout cliches in lieu of thought.
I’m not sure I follow you. What, specifically, do you suggest?
Sorry my crystal ball is broken.. I don’t know WHO is NOT going to be elected President.. but ALL OPTIONS need to be on the table and discussed throughly NOW.. rather than wait for the 2012 so-called primary to decide.. we need to start putting together OUR battle roster NOW ! and keep refining it until the 2012 primary which should just be a sweeping CHECK-THE-BLOCK event if we to the RIGHT thing NOW !
Nugent / Norris
Ted and Chuck
Respect....Or else!
ok.. and who should Ted and Chuck appoint as Sec. of State?
Mark Levin as Sec. of State
get 1000 folks to buy that ticket and you have a plan..
Correction get 250 folks IN YOUR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT !
We’ve got a gun grabber for atty Gen would Christie be any better?
Well....Oooo-rah and a hidey-ho! Beat the drum, sound the horn, scream from the mountain top....
For what you propose to happen, you must replace an entire "nationfull" of corrupt machinery that has existed for better than 100 years. How do you propose to do this in a little over 17 months, hmmmmm????
Capitalizing letters, screaming into the wind, and setting one's hair on fire will not make what you propose actually happen.
So...in concrete terms that all can understand....what do we do now to "fix things"...what path do all who agree with your strident viewpoint follow?
And exactly who is your "candidate of choice"?
No, that was not insulting.
Had I been insulting you, I might have said that you were anti-social, wholly inexperienced, so hardbound in your unsubstantiated beliefs that you failed to learn from others’ mistakes, so comitted to your disproven thought process that you were willing to sacrifice conservative candidates, conservative governance, even concervatism itself so your fantasy dreams could be followed....
Had I been insulting I might have said those things.
...... But I did not.
I’m sorry you have difficulty with something called “reality.” Many people do, but most who do are called patients or Liberals.
ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL !
You are an ignorant troll.
Now THAT is a fact.
It can also be taken as an insult if you wish.
If I had to choose TODAY my dream ticket at least in part in posted at the start of this thread... as for cleaning the HOUSE of Representives.. which is where we really need to start the GOOOH selection process will produce the BEST candidate to run against the incumbant be it Republican or Democrat or NPA
