CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) no longer includes several significant Conservative candidates, broadcasters, and institutions. Notably absent this weekend were Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Heritage Foundation, Family Research Council, and Concerned Women of America. CPAC continues to drift apart from the Burkean Conservatism of religious principle and societal order inseparably linked to economic freedom.
CPAC's Friday headline speaker, touting the virtue of a balanced budget, was Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, as introduced by George Will who has promoted Daniels as a possible presidential candidate.
Mitch Daniels is George Will's Great Male Hope to save his Republican Party from Sarah Palin.

no longer includes -Sarah Palin.
She’s never been to one, so ‘no longer includes’ is misleading. That’s what it was meant to do...
Daniels is an absolute zero. He combines the policy positions of the Ripon Society with charisma (if I may be permitted to stretch that word) as cold as a salamander.
George Bush ran up some absolutely horrific deficits that only appear modest when compared to what Obama has done. Daniels was Bush’s budget director. You really need go no further than this.
I am anxious to hear Levin peel the bark off him.
” It is an animus George (Will) shares with Liberal Democrats who constantly caution Republicans not to nominate a Conservative because a Conservative cannot beat us in November.”
STATED PERFECTLY!!!
Isn’t Daniels the guy who was roommates with the DRUG DEALER (and even got arrested himself, for possession), and the guy who essentially sold off his toll road to a foreign company.
Yea!!! Great choice, he excites me as much as McCain did.
He sold the management and maintenance of the toll road to a private contractor............not the deed for the land, then he put the money in the bank.
“He sold the management and maintenance of the toll road to a private contractor............not the deed for the land, then he put the money in the bank. “
Same effect (that’s why I said “essentially”). When you ‘lease’ something for 75 years, it’s a sale, as far as I’m concerned (and as far as my kids are concerned, as they won’t be around long enough to clean up his mess either).
Daniels has done a great deal to help Indiana.
“Good lord no one raised a different countries flag over it.”
Spain, to be precise.
He’s another RINO, we are being ‘setup’ by the establishment just like we were in 2008; I won’t play their game, even if OBAMA wins again!
J.S.
Haven't heard that one. Got a source?
and the guy who essentially sold off his toll road to a foreign company.
Absolutely. Conseravtives generally favor privatization, as private sector companies, be they foreign or domestic, are generally do things better than the government. In this case, the deal worked out very well for all interested parties, including the drivers.

A governor who has managed to cut per-capita state spending to the lowest in the nation, and who ran one of the handful of states that kept its budget balanced in 2008 and 2009, ought to excite any conservative.
He "only" managed to cut his state's per capita spending to the lowest level in the nation.

How about his record in Indiana? Are you just going to write off the fact that his state is one of the few that managed to keep its budget balanced during the last recession?

Look it up, apologists won’t believe that there were threads on this last weekend if linked to it. Not worth my time.

LOL. In your dreams. Anyway, there are a lot of conservatives in the suburbs north of Houston, and 1000 of them came out a few years ago to put an end to Perry’s plans to install toll booths on an existing freeway (SH 249, to be precise). So it looks like you’re in your own little club on this one.

LOL - your turn for a link. I’ll act like you and not believe the link, so don’t waste your time.
