I’ve heard it, and it is indeed gorgeous. It’s one of only a handful of covers I prefer to the original.
Agreed - although Hendrix's original is still pretty incredible. It is a marvel of re-imagined blues guitar conventions using not only an unusual technique but very subtle chords as well. The same goes, I think for Voodoo Chile. SRV's version sometimes sounds more like Hendrix than Hendrix. In any event, both died far too young. As did Frank Zappa, for that matter. ;-)
