Women have always gone to extremes to attract attention. Think back to the previous centuries’ extremes: corsets so tight women crushed their own internal organs, imbibing bits of arsenic or belladonna to achieve pale skin or shining eyes, foot bindings that deformed the feet permanently... women have always been kind of stupid when it comes to this.
