Not a day goes by where Chinese students are not told of China’s victimhood at the hands of nasty colonialists. Plus China very much believes in the long-game of asymetric warfare.

Active participation by the Chinese Gov’t? Maybe. Willful ignorance of the situation? certainly!

As always, follow the money. The guy who set up the money for Skull and Bones, along with most wealthy New England families were all involved.
