But its nice to know that even as Unions lose jobs and clout, they are still able to contribute massive amounts of their member’s $$ to Democratic politicians. The problem a lot of Unions will face also is that they will eventually have more retired members than working members. The UAW may be in this situation. When it happens, they will fight for retiree benefits at the expense of current workers. That is the start of the Union death spiral.

The entire country should be a “right-to-work” country. People should be free to join if they want, and NOT join if they want. There should be no such thing as a ‘closed shop’, like the US automakers have, and most northern manufacturers have. That is an invitation to failure since the cancer of unionism will eventually cause the company to fail.

Public sector unions need to be outlawed, period. Public servents who threaten to shut down the whole public sector need to be fired and with so many people out of work it’s an excellent time to hire new folks to replace those that don’t like it.

All public employee unions should be outlawed.

The solution to public unions is for the Feds, states, counties and cities to run out of money. Which they inevitably must, due to the super-fat benefits and retirement packages.

Not surprising in the least. Previously they were shielded from the recession by the Union Protection Act of 2009 a.k.a. the stimulus bill.
