Evans blabbed at a third radio station 95 Kool FM in the Valley, Phoenix AZ where he said,

"Yesterday I talked to Neil who says he searched everywhere using his power as governor..."

Evans was likely telling the truth before he backtracked. Telling lies against the interest of his good buddy Abercrombie is harder to do than telling lies in the interest or favor of his buddy.
