Er... ok... so if at first he was standing by his first original statement.... then why???

It would make MORE sense to say it right off the bat.... Why would Evans burn his friendship with Neil.... make a false statement, then back track and say the conversation didn’t happen?

This makes no sense.

Evans started the interview denying ever saying he spoke to Neil. The host played the recording of Evans saying "Neil said". After a couple more attempts by Evans, insisting he never said it...he finally had to acknowledge he said it, but that in truth, all he did was leave a message with office staff, and hasn't heard back from Neil or anyone else.

I personally think Evans is a Hollywood reporter who isn't used to having this level of scrutiny and is having to backtrack because, if he didn't in fact talk to Neil, it would eventually come out anyway.

I'm undecided as to what role Abercrombie is playing in this little drama.
