Seems like a lot of work, and trying to figure out the “system.” Yes, the “return” is good, but you would have to spend a lot of time collecting the coupons, researching prices, and what-not to make nine dollars.
Kind of an annoying way to make a living...
Figure out the system. Let's see...about 5 minutes reading about the Maalox deal. Time spent collecting the coupons...about an hour. Researching prices? No time. It was all done for me by other coupon blogs. Earnings? Nine dollars? Nope. Try a few hundred on this deal.
The people that play this game hardly ever pay for soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shave cream etc. I usually save about 60%-80% on my grocery bill. They didn’t make $9 either. You pay minimal out of pocket to get $30 in register rewards. That’s $30 to spend on anything in the store. If you spend your rewards on things that earn other rewards, your out of pocket costs in minimal. Sometimes (most times) the only thing I pay out of pocket is the sale tax.
This guy is waaaaaay more into it than Mrs WBill and I are.
However, we spend maybe 15 minutes a week cutting coupons out of the Sunday paper. Checking flyers for the sales that we want to hit, and making a list before shopping is maybe another 15 minutes.
For that amount of effort, we get about 1-1/2 weeks of groceries, free, each month. To me, that's time well spent.
Annnnd, we get pretty much what we want. Not 6 bottles of Maalox. :-)
