John P. Wheeler visited the 10th-floor offices of the Connolly Bove Lodge and Hutch law firm in the Nemours Building looking to speak with the managing partner.
Jacks lawyer is Bayard Marin whose office is several blocks away.
Jack left the Connolly firm when the receptionist went in back to find someone. A guess on my part may be that he thought she was going to call police or ?? Will we ever know?
I think the reporters have made up so much stuff that even they don't know what's real.
MORE LIKELY...the person wasn't in and John left.
Why did everyone act like John was some kind of idiot....lost, lonely, homeless, dementia, drunk...
I think John was simply looking for a yes, no to all his questions not everyone's friggin' solution to his want.
I do what John did all the time....Walk out because I was there for one purpose....
Thanks WestCoastGal, I found the quote I was looking for -that is, Wheeler talked to someone at the (not his) law firm besides the receptionist. Clue is: ‘to travel north’ - not home, but north. What/who would be north? Any ideas, Sacajaweau?
The former Pentagon official was in downtown Wilmington the afternoon of Dec. 30, looking to borrow train fare to travel north, the attorney said

Makes sense when combined with this info: A cab driver said he got a call from a man on the 29th between 4 & 5 from New Castle area. The man said he wanted to go to Philadelphia. Pick up was at 273 & 9th. Cabbie said he was there in 20 minutes but caller was gone.
An hour later, at 6:00 P.M., John was at the Pharmacy asking for a ride to Wilmington.
What happened?? One of two things...
If you look at a map, there are two intersection possiblities...273 and Rte 9 or 273 and 9th street...pretty close to each other. So that could have gotten mixed up.
OR, it was really an hour before the cabbie got there. (More likely). Why?? It would be a big fare with a big tip. Cabbie said he was the manager and a driver. HE WANTED THAT FARE FOR HIMSELF.
John got sick of waiting and that's why he tried hitching a ride at the pharmacy.
At 6, it might be a shift change for someone he knew that could drive him to Wilmington where he could EASILY get a cab to Philly.
At one point in time he said he wanted to go to Philadelphia which is north.
That would be this one, with 864 replies as of now:
