But it would be nobody else’s business even if it were true.

I think the only way that it could possibly be relevant would be if either spouse was running for office or occupying elected office. It's iffy even then, but scandals have a way of affecting one's performance, so I could see it being potentially important assuming it's true (which is a huge assumption).

Gov. Haley marched on despite more salacious direct allegations. They are just trying to throw everything conceivable at the Palins to see if they can keep her from running. My hope, of course, is that they don’t succeed.

Agreed. Nikki Haley handled everything perfectly. She denied it and didn't address it again in any substantive way.

Successful politicians don't respond to every rumor or insult. Trash talk is part of the political landscape and has been since Day One. It isn't going to change anytime soon. Politicians either get used to it or get out.

Right before the election in November, 2010, Reason magazine put together political ads for Thomas Jefferson & John Adams, using their own words from the election of 1800.

If you haven't see them, they are worth a look. Attack Ads, Circa 1800: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_zTN4BXvYI
