Since the Tucson tragedy that left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords fighting for her life, some - mostly liberals - have obsessed over the now-infamous crosshair graphic.
We are told that the graphic - once used by an ad put out by Sarah Palin's PAC to denote certain districts targeted for GOP victory - is enough to send people into uncontrollable fits of rage and anger. Why, the very presence of a crosshair graphic may cause someone to pull out a gun and kill people, according to liberals.
It has gotten so crazy that some are even afraid of using the term.
Seriously.
Matthew Balan reports at Newsbusters that CNN's John King apologized shortly after a guest used the term during a segment on his program.
"We're trying to get away from using that kind of language," he said.
Apparently it's okay to try to make people think Sarah Palin played a part in the shootings, but it's not okay to say "crosshairs".
Balan called the statement bizarre and reminded readers that CNN reporters have used the term regularly in the recent past:
Such a statement is bizarre, even in the aftermath of the recent shooting in Tucson and all the call for a more civil discussion. The Washington Examiner's Byron York noted on Wednesday that in the past month, anchor and correspondents for CNN used the "crosshairs" with some regularity in the month leading up to the Arizona murders, including in a reference to Sarah Palin by Headline News's A.J. Hammer on December 8: "Palin's moose-hunting episode on her reality show enraged People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and now, she's square in the crosshairs of big time Hollywood producer, Aaron Sorkin."

George Orwell: Merely a few decades early.
He discusses that in the article. Seems some are more equal than others:
“The Blaze reports that a group of protesters in Washington, D.C. are planning to protest the construction of a Wal-Mart by demonstrating outside the developer’s private residence. According to Jonathon M. Seidl, the group has published the man’s address, but that’s not all:
But the address may not be the flyers only controversial element. Ironically, it also contains a target symbol a similar picture to the one seen on a district map created by Sarah Palin and thats sparked outrage from the left in the wake of the shootings in Tucson. And whats worrying is that the groups symbol is connected to specific event at a private residence
Couldn’t the argument be made that the symbol might entice a mentally unbalanced person to perhaps pull out a gun and shoot someone?”
This means that if someone makes an attempt on Ms. Palin's life in the near future, CNN will blame it on Aaron Sorkin and themselves, right?
Yeah, sure...
didn’t CNN used to have a show called “Cross Fire”?
I can’t help but think of the bank employee who came home to find hundreds of protesters on the lawn and his 14 year old son hiding in the closet.
Somebody is going to be burned to death in their home by these thugs and Obama won’t be able to simply brush it aside.
The only graphics that might drive me to kill would be ‘graphic’ photos of Helen Thompson.
But something like that is going to force ANYONE in to a homicidal rage... ...or maybe a suicidal depression... ... but it’s SURE to be one or the other.
