Operation Demoralize Is Working (Conservatives freaking out, throws Palin under the bus)
legalinsurrection ^ | Wednesday January 19, 2011 | William A. Jacobson

Posted on 01/19/2011 8:50:08 PM PST by Bigtigermike

On January 5, 2011, three days before the Tucson shooting, I warned that the mainstream media would mount Operation Demoralize:

The mainstream media will undertake, and already has undertaken, a concerted effort to blame the Republican House for everything that goes wrong, for not living up to promises, for living up to promises, for failing to compromise, for selling out, etc. Do not fall for it.

Holding the Republican House to its commitments is one thing; falling for Operation Demoralize is something else.

If you think that the mainstream media is not still 100% in the tank for Obama, think again.

Keep your eye on 2012. They are.

I could not have anticipated that the event which would kick off Operation Demoralize would be a mass murder and attempted assassination of a Democratic Congresswoman by a mentally deranged gunman who had no obvious interest in the real world of politics but who clearly was not a Republican in name or otherwise.

I also could not have anticipated that one of the leading Republican potential presidential candidates, Sarah Palin, would be falsely accused of inspiring the shooting, and that the mainstream media would run with that narrative to the point that almost a third of Americans believed it.

But as we all have witnessed the past 10 days, there has been an all out mainstream media assault on Tea Parties, conservative talk show hosts, and most of all, Sarah Palin.

Is it any surprise that Palin's negatives have reached new highs?

Yet some people who say they actually like and support Palin on the merits already are succumbing to Operation Demoralize even though the primaries are more than a year off and the Presidential election is almost two years away.

John Hinderaker at Powerline writes, Palin for President, Forget It (h/t Fuzzy):

The time has come to put any thoughts of Sarah Palin running for President to rest. I say that not because I dislike her; on the contrary, I'm a fan. I think she did an excellent job as a vice-presidential candidate in 2008 and has been an effective spokeswoman for conservative causes in the years since. But there is no way she is ever going to be elected President, and the sooner Republicans get over that idea, the better.

[citing a recent CNN Poll]

No one with a 59 percent unfavorability rating among independents has the chance of a snowball in Hell of being elected President. 2012 will be a vitally important election year; it is no time for a kamikaze Presidential campaign or for a cult of personality. Republicans (and conservatives) need a candidate who has a chance to win against an incumbent who, despite everything, is not particularly unpopular and who won't be able to do much visible damage between now and then.

One hopes that Governor Palin will see the writing on the wall and devote her energies to helping the conservative movement and other, better-positioned candidates rather than to pursuing a Presidential ambition that can only prove destructive.

Why is such an announcement necessary now, at the very moment that the conservative movement is trying to fight back against the mainstream media campaign related to the Tucson shooting?

You can throw Palin under the bus if you want, but what will you do when the next candidate faces blistering false accusations which drive negatives high after a mainstream media feeding frenzy?

Why not let the political and primary process work itself out. We do not even know if Palin is running, or if she will garner enough Republican support to win.

There is an insatiable mainstream media hunger to demonize and marginalize potential Republican nominees. Feeding that beast in the wake of the Tucson shooting is not the way to win in 2012.

To hell with all you Palin-hatin' Yankees.
We'll elect her President of the Republic of Texas.
Eat your hearts out.
And no, you can't have any oil or spaceships.

Here's an appropriate tune from the Carter era-- Freeze a Yankee--The Folkel Minority, 1977

PRECISELY!!!!

My email sent to BOR tonight:

Wish you would have caught Dick Morris's slip. He said "voters" when in fact, both polls you showed, sampled "adults", not registered voters or likely voters. I am a registered, likely voter in solid support of Governor Sarah Palin.

We are beating this to death. We have 21 Months until the Election and at least three months until the field of players decide to show themselves.

If Palin throws her hat into the ring, she will end up on a Debate stage with the usual suspects and few newbies. Her ideas, as well as the ideas of her Foes will be debated.

If she holds her own, she will win over the Primary Voters. If not, we get who we get and it becomes Anybody But Obama instead of another Reagan Revolution.

Ultimately, Governor Palin will say yes or no. All this pontificating will not change whatever decision she makes.

Screw the Media, the Rats, the Rinos and the nutcase Liberals spewing their slander. If Sarah Palin runs the gauntlet and survives, I will follow her to the Gates of Hell.

If the Useful Idiots pick Obummer again in 2012, it will only prove that over half the Electorate is beyond redemption and the Country I grew up in is no more.

I want a true Conservative on stage debating the Marxist. I have only witnessed that twice in my life with President Reagan in 1980 and 1984. I would hope to see that same kind of debate with Sarah Palin or another true Conservative as our Candidate. I think 2012 is do or die.

Thank you for listening to The BOR and Toes. I refuse to listen to both of them anymore. Glad you sent them a e-mail to straighten them out.

It was by accident... rarely happens and that type of crap that prompted me to write, is the reason why I don’t usually watch BOR.

“This blog piece is written by either an ignorant dope, a Palin hater or a panic freak...”

I have to strongly disagree. Prof. Jacobson is a very astute man- both Rush and Mark Levin have positively cited his blog pieces. And he’s defended Palin in countless posts.

The fact of the matter is that the MSM’s attempt to influence the moronic public has worked a little- Obummer’s approval is at 53% in two different polls, post-Tucson. Of course, he has to go back to governing now, and back to his failing policies.

You missed the *target* of that post. It was a follow-up to his previous post that the aftermath of the Tucson shooting was just a measure of how much pushback against Palin the public would allow. It was a precursor to see how effective the same vile tactics used against Hillary in 2008 (and his IL opponents in 2004) would swallow. Professor is a solid Conservative on our side, and a solid Palin supporter. Please peruse his site, and reconsider. His is my 2nd stop every morning. Signed, a Palin lover, and generally a good judge of other Palin supporters, too.

I don’t know if you get your polling from MSNBC but Obummer is not over 50% in any poll that matters. There are 4 with him at or over 50%. They are flawed Lib MSM polls. Rassmussen has him at a weak 48 and Gallup has him a 49%, and that is after the speech. We also had a very accurate poll on Nov 2nd that showed him very weak. Not really stellar for a man with so much support from the media.

I don’t know who this blogger is and I don’t really care. The gist of the piece gives the MSM more credence than they deserve. Look at their viewership and circulation. In the toilet. It is time to stop treating them like the monolith we did in the past.

This all reminds me of history repeating itself.

For those of you old enough to remember Barry Goldwater running - I was a child but still remember how scary that tv commercial (run by the dems) was, with the little girl picking daisies and then the atomic flash. It was chilling. I believe that commercial (which can still be viewed on you tube), in large part, defeated him in the presidential race. Now, of course, we know how well history has remembered him and he’s long since been vindicated from the left’s fear-mongering portrayal of him as a right-wing nut who wanted to nuke any/all enemies. He was the better choice and would’ve made a good president.

My dad, his political brother and many, many other conservatives supported Goldwater. It’s a shame how he was maligned and discredited in the eyes of the masses who decide elections, but I see the same sort of parallel happening (and growing) now, with Palin.

She’s young and has so much time in the future to run. Right now, we MUST assure that a second term of b. hussein obama doesn’t happen. Period. Whomever that takes to win the most votes.

“and then the Media picks the Milquetoast candidate for us to run.”

No, the media won’t pick our candidate and they didn’t last time, either. Party divisiveness and in-fighting did. The media, however, DID pick the president in ‘08, because throngs of sheeple fell for it AND because we had a milquetoast candidate, which made it easier.

This time, we’ve got to have someone who has strength, star quality AND yes, appeal for the majority of voters. (Two out of three won’t get it)

It’s from a new WSJ- NBC poll, so take it or leave it. I’ll grant you there’s probably a lot of oversampling (and it’s part NBC, of course). I don’t really care, because Obama will lose whatever bump he gained in no time.

All I’m getting at, is when the media wants to do a hatchet job, they still can and will. In no sane world should Harry Reid, for instance, have won by six points with all the problems he created in Nevada, and yet he did. They viciously tore Angle apart. And other Senate candidates were victims of hit jobs.

I hope you’re right quite honestly, and that people stop paying attention to spoon-fed biased news from the MSM. It would certainly makes things a lot easier for Conservatives. But I know too many people who still accept as fact whatever they see or hear from the MSM.

Really? I think my dictionary actually has this picture:

And if you look up "Elite RINOs Frightened of Palin" you get this:

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Bush II actually signed the Secure Fence Act. Perry did everything he could to kill it. An along with his RINO senators, he did.

I was around for Reagan and Palin is Reagan in High Heels! She is better looking, but Reagan was not in his prime.

Palin is quicker in getting her words out than any politician in the last 50 years, this is a sign she says what she believes! Finally, someone who tells the Truth!

Some people seems to think a woman can’t run this country, that’s another reason why she needs to be the first woman President!

She would do a lot to hurt the men having sex with men lifestyle, Normal would be back in again! That’s probably the biggest reason that the anti Palin freepers keeping spurring out all the same negatives Reagan lived with, yes, our token liberal democrat Trolls and with their sick lifestyle!
