Six-term Republican Senator Orrin Hatch is trailing in a hypothetical primary challenge. The Utah Republican just saw his counterpart Bob Bennett knocked out of office last year in a Republican primary. Hatch ran for President in 2000, but did not get more than 3% nationwide. Hatch's last competitive race for Senate was in 1982.
Utah Policy came out with a new poll of that state's Republicans, in which Hatch was placed third against former Governor John Huntsman and current representative Jason Chaffetz.

One can only hope.
He always wanted to sit on the Supreme Court ... can you imagine?
.
You can all educate me but I have never heard Hatch be liberal, to me he is a steadfast and articulate conservative who has been very forthright standing up to Obama, and before that Clinton. He pretty single handedly saved Clarence Thomas’ Supreme Court nomination.
Whenever I say this others post that he has done “other stuff”. Please educate me but I’ve been alive all through this guy’s time in office and never noticed him being a liberal. I guess those in his state know more.
GOOD
YEAH!

Best news of the day!!! Hatch in trouble serves as a red flag to other entrenched and establishment RINO’s to either retire themselves, or spend a lot of money and risk to face defeat. A crying shame we didn’t oust Lisa Mercowski, the darling of the Alaska Left, who ran on our name.
John McCain and Lindsay Graham are schizophrenic, at once jerking our chain as they throw in with the Left, and then patting our heads with some faux conservative line to bring us at ease. Absolute betrayal, and both these two are representative of our military? Scary.
Bye bye to another RINO.
Although he voted “NO” on Kagan and Sotomayer, he voted “YES” on both Ginsberg and Breyer, possibly the worst Supremes ever.
Over the years, the once conservative Hatch has turned into a typical limp-wristed RINO, pandering for NY Times puff pieces by putting countless Marxists on the Supreme Court.
Limp-wristed, softy-boy from Pennsylvania needs to go. Hatch doesn’t even know how to represent Utah. He can retire quietly and don the green apron like the good little adherent he is.
I’ve watched him change over the years from a staunch conservative to an unpredictable one who even supports amnesty for children of illegals. Sure he voted against the DREAM Act recently, but it was a procedural thing. He has sponsored earlier versions and supported more power for out-of-control govt agencies like the FDA.
He also long maintained a policy of voting for any Supreme Court nominee unless he believed the person unqualified. He did break it with Obama’s nominees however.
When clinton was impeached in the House , it then moved to the Senate for trial . The leadership had to decide if they would allow witnesses . Lott , Hatch , Kay Baily , all said no witnesses . Only Phil Graham argued for witnesses . We all know how that turned out .
The DREAM Act was his baby. He was buddy-buddy with Ted Kennedy and convinced him to be more liberal on lots of thngs. He’s a go along, get along be nice to the opponent in the hopes that he’ll be nice to me type of guy. I’ll be glad when he’s gone.
OK, I’ve read your post and others. I think you praise him with faint condemnation. I’ve been amused by Hatch for at least 23 years, he is a character but a forceful one who stands up to leftist notions.
His position on Supreme Court nominees was pretty standard, and as you say he wisely opposed Obama’s I have heard this man be a passionate articulate advocate for common sense conservatism.
As for no witnesses at the Clinton impeachment, that cave in remains one of my pet peeves. Still I see Hatch as a friend to conservatives.
