The old Green Hornet TV show was one of the most underrated ever. Theme song and music played by Al Hirt and his orchestra, and Kato, played by Bruce Lee, whuppin somebody's butt (actually several butts) every night.
And the dude who was really the Green Hornet was just some rich dude who had a cool car and could afford to pay Kato for his services.
It shoulda been good for oh, about four or five seasons IMO.
Recommended movie viewing: The Bruce Lee story.

Actually takes some liberties with the truth
Bruce Leee and Van Williams were good friends - not as the
movie portrays as self absorbed whinny A -Hole

Honestly that's not surprising and I'm willing to take your word for it.
The Bruce Lee Story was done (obviously) with a lot of input from someone close to him.
For example, the incident in Hong Kong involving the Aussie sailor could have (might have?) gone down differently than the movie showed.
Bruce Lee "was no choir boy" but his impact on the martial arts and on culture can't be denied, and The Green Hornet TV show was where he first appeared. (Me, 10 year old: Kato knows judo!! Big brother, No, Kato knows karate!! Don't you know what karate is??)
I still liked it though, the producer played by Robert Wagner was the positive character in that part of it. The period where he was washing dishes in the Chinese restaurant and his relationship with the lady proprietor were hilarious.

And the 60’s show was an update on the radio show (part of the nostalgia wave then)— they’re featuring the original shows now on Sirius XM radio classics channel. Interesting to hear those.

Green Lantern movie coming out.
It's a Vast Leftwing Conspiracy!

Watched the original series back in the day and liked it. But the "campy" Batman was much better... for this then 9 year old.

The SciFi channel just ran a mini-marathon of original Green Hornet episodes, as a promo for the movie no doubt.
Not to mention the MythBusters' Green Hornet special.

Thank you! Another Hollywood debacle I can avoid. Man, I have saved so much money this year. The King’s Speech was great though.

The guy they got to play Kato in this remake seems like he was born for the role, though. I’ll give this one a look...In a year of relatively poor movies (Inception aside) this one at least seems to have the potential to entertain.

I remember the old Green Hornet tv show from the sixties. The world was introduced to Kung Fu in the person of Kato played by Bruce Lee. It must have become very apparent to many viewers that Kato was quite a bit tougher than the Green Hornet.

But what a cool car!! Machine guns in the hood. Green lights that will light things only for the driver wearing special lenses. Car phone! Tape recorder! CCTV! Launchable drone!
This is the one car that can take on the Batmobile. (Chrysler vs. Mercury)

Reruns of the Green Hornet still play overseas - only it’s the Bruce Lee show. He has some white guy as a sidekick/cover.
Watched several episodes on the SyFy channel. Was struck as how lousy the cars handled. Pretty much a formula show.

The new Batman movies were great. I really hated the TV version—and I suspect this Green Hornet is a “Pow!”, “”Bam”
kinda parody. Haven’t seen “Inception” but I’ll give it a try.
