The fact is that the mentally disturbed gunman, Jared Lee Loughner, is among many disturbed individuals who are roaming the streets of every street in America. Someone like him could be sitting next to you on a bus or in a theater or at a fast-food restaurant. Not too long ago, one of them tried to kill President Ronald Reagan.

As much as I deplored the Pima County sheriff’s political rant, he was right on the difficulty in having mentally off people getting to medical facilities. Of course, IIRC it was a liberal legal decision which emptied the institutions during Reagan’s administration.
My husband, his ex-wife, and I all worked unsuccessfully to seek medical help for their 19 yr. old son who felt he did not need further medical help after a traumatic brain injury obtained from a motorcycle accident.
Parents have no legal rights over adult children.

In terms of liberal talking points and “never letting a crisis go to waste”, the critically wounded Senator makes for great press. The liberals will be able to gain some political traction at her expense.

However, I have read on other posts here on FR that the shooter may have been a homosexual. If this is true, would in not make more sense that the real target of the shooting was deceased Arizona Federal Judge John McCarthy Roll?

Judge Roll was a conservative, Catholic, judge. Just the type of person to set off a leftist, homosexual with signs of mental instability. Of course, this would not advance the liberal agenda, so the MSN has moved the death of a Federal Judge to a footnote of the “real” story.

Just my opinion, but I think the shooter may have been after the judge and the senator was tragically, in the wrong place at the wrong time.
