The church of Christ is a non-denominational body of Christians. They are all independant. There is no “national headquarters” or anything like that.
By and large the members are all very conservative people, and for the most part not into politics very much. No politicking from the pulpit at all.
The United Church of Christ is an ultra liberal denominational body. No affiliation whatsever to the churches of Christ. The United CoC is what Jeremiah Wright is attached to.

The difficulty is that although you and I know all the REAL Christian churches are independent, they come in two brands ~ and some outsiders that follow the Puritan tradition also use the name ~ with or without a capital "C" on Church.
