A preacher for the church of Christ was killed in the Giffords shooting incident. Slain was Dorwin Stoddard, 76, of Mountain Ave. church of Christ. His wife was wounded. Seems the media hasn't had much to say about that.
It’s been steadily getting worse and worse for Christians, especially since Obama was immaculated President. Like someone said, if it had been a Muslim imam who lay down his life for his wife (if imams even marry?) that would have been the drumbeat even louder than the judge and Congresswoman being shot. I am of the opinion Obama wants to incite anger in the American people in order to declare martial law on them at the drop of a hat; especially if they don’t toe the line and allow his agenda to go “forward” into the “brave new world” he and his handlers invision.
I’ve read about him several places, and FOX news mentioned not only his name but his church affiliation last night.
Sounds like a fine man.
We lost a good judge, too, and a sweet little girl. So much hurt.
And the extraordinary braveness of the woman who attempted to grab the killer’s extra magazine.
Very little mention of these heroes, only space to blame the tea party patriots.
For shame.
The “already captured” media is -like much of our Government willfully divorced form the Religious. Unless the Press can paint a scandal involving some Preacher— or use some disgraced Preacher to divide the church they have no use for those who proclaim the word of the Lord.I suspect he’s preparing one interesting sermon for that heavenly congregation.
Thank you for your condolences and for your prayers at this time. Since the incident happened less than 24 hours ago we have not discussed memorial funds, etc. It's mostly just been grappling with the freakish nature of this great loss. Dory was not our pulpit minister here at Mountain Ave. But he was in charge if our benevolence and maintenance committees. My father, Michael Nowak, is the pulpit minister and can be contacted at mike@ma-coc.org. Again, Thank you for your prayers and your willingness to help.
I will post updates when I get them
You are misjudging Giffords who was, by all accounts, a conservative Democrat. That party needs to reform from within, and I wish her well.
You are also mixing politics and religion, which our Savior never did.
I know fine church friends who are long-time Democrats, although disgusted by some of the positions today’s Democratic party has taken. Remember that platforms change and that conservatism does not always ally itself with one party.

http://www.christianchronicle.org/blog/2011/01/breaking-news-church-member-killed-wife-wounded-in-arizona-shooting-rampage/ This is The Christian Chronicle article. The article is under their blog dated Jan 8th.
True, they want the coverage to get their ratings up and become famous reporters. Pathetic.
I do recognize she was in hot water with abortion proponents and the gay mafia for her opposition to them. If the preacher and his wife were helping to stiffen Giffords' spine on such things, I would applaud that.
Indeed, I was wrong to imply a church of Christ preacher couldn't find some common ground with Giffords. It's not very hard to imagine, now that I've read some of her positions. Generally working within the party religion that so steadfastly supports abortion and homosexual marriage would be sufficient to avoid such politicians, but that would reasonably become personal prerogative in the case of blue dog democrat positions, if held firmly, unlike some Democrat squeeky wheels looking to be greased.
Certainly showing the love to sacrifice one's own life for another is one of the highest virtues one can ever display (1 Jn 3:16, Jn 15:13, Mk 10:45, Lk 17:33, Jn 13:37).

If a preacher was killed then it must have been either a satanic ritual killing or a progressive atheist murder plot and the congresswoman was just a decoy to pin the wrap on the Tea Party.
I’m just throwing out the BS conspiracies like everyone else.
Just on another thread it mentioned the names of two that had been killed. And the nine-year old Christina. So with Rev. (?) Stoddard that makes four of the six killed that I have heard any mention of.
God Bless their souls.
“...if it had been a Muslim imam who lay down his life for his wife...”
.
You know the saying about hell and frostbite don’t you?
Obama was successful at Inciting Riots that Burned Thousands of Christians Alive in their Christian Churchs
when His Muslim Candidate Who He was Illegally Campaigning For and Both Funding and Advising Lost a Fair and Legitimate
Presidential Election!! So Why Shouldn’t We expect HUSSEIN to pull the same Atrocities Here in Our AMERICA to Get His WAY?
I noticed that most of the people killed in the shooting were older folks.
"Reverend" is not used in churches of Christ, in answer to your question mark.
That is the extremely liberal, UNITED Church of Christ. There is a huge difference.
Too early for the youngsters. It would have to be afternoon to get a decent showing from them.
