This is as much CRAP SCIENCE as Global Warming yet because it seems to fit “our” agenda to jump on the anti-CFL bandwagon some are willing to forgo common sense and doing their own unbiased objective evaluation of the facts.

This author rails against the evils of mercury without once pointing out that the amount of mercury in a CFL is about 5 milligrams - an amount equal to the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

And if you don’t break it, not one atom of that evil nasty mercury ever comes into your house.

I love Mark Steyn’s term “yogurt-coated curly fries” and don’t like the Gummint mandating which lighting technology we should have the right to choose But I like and use CFLs and fluorescent tubes for their merits and use common sense when handling them.

I also hate “sheeple” but sticking with it for this post - is a person any less of a “sheeple” for blindly following these Mercury Crap-Scientists?

True. I actually like them for some things but disagree with any mandates either way. I have some that do fine outside in the Michigan winter despite taking 30 seconds to reach full intensity.

When you could get them American made the quality was far superior to the chinese made crap that they sell today. The American made CFLs also put out a better quality of yellow white light.
