I was talking specifically to the thread article.

I have a serious problem with the government establishment on both sides of the aisle.

I don't think anything will change until we rid ourselves of the career types.

And as I always say,

vote from rooftops Pictures, Images and Photos

The Constitution says whatever Anthony Kennedy thinks it says. As the tie-breaking Justice, Kennedy is King.

Well, I think you are both right. Lawyers are anything buit scholars or academics. Very bright people with a guild mentality , and so they have a hard time going the other way, which is to take an opinion and get to the life situation from which it proceeds. Introspection is hardly a quality that one finds in a lawyer. Take the famous trial where Darrow and Bryan clashed. Two more ignorant men never opened their mouths to talk about subjects beyond their competence to talk about.

It is worse than that. The constitution may be what some federal district judge says it is, for most such decisions are not overruled. Take the matter of Obama’s nativity. The lower courts keep denying standing to persons who DO have standing. At the same time, they take cases where
the plaintiff/defendant has no more standing than you or I. Totally arbitrary.

as a matter of fact I am, although I am in the minority, a strict constructionist, viewing most other lawyers as parasites.

I fail to see what was illogical about my post.

and please provide cites to any accredited law school that will allow one to enter with only a two year degree

Regards

Henry Waxman, outgoing chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, all but dismissed any role for Congress in assessing the constitutionality of its actions: "Whether it is constitutional or not is going to be whether the Supreme Court says it is."

Oh, ok. NOW they refer to the Court. Henry the Nose needs to inform the FCC...

Palin’s a RINO

O.K. I'll bite. Why?

My answer would be: She is RINO because she is a true conservative. That makes me a RINO too, since I am registered as a Rep. but vote and think as a conservative.

Protecting and defending the Constitution is a far distant second to protecting and defending a client, even for ethical attorneys.

You clearly are not a practicing attorney, are you?

Clueless.

First off, not all accredited law schools currently require a bs. Let’s assume it’s the majority though. Do you know when schools began requiring (sort of, although it’s actually based on competition rather than absolute requirement) a bs degree? Can you plot as a percent of total schools over time? Then, to complete the analysis, consider the number of practicing attorneys and when they graduated - i.e. more easily put - what percent of actual practicing attorneys have bs degrees (and in what). It’s illogical to presume a characteristic for all practicing attorneys, some of whom graduated decades ago, based on current (sort of) requirements of some law schools. Even if your presumption about requirements was correct (and it wasn’t) your conclusion would still be wrong.

Just what is your basis for concluding that Palin is a true conservative - the fact that she hasn’t been? Her role on the McCain team was to play true conservative to try to hold the base together, and she did it well; so now she’s turned that trick into a business. But she’s not really a conservative. She’s just a RINO cowgirl working to keep the cattle on the ranch.

is not your original statement that I called you on.

this is your original statement:

We might also keep in mind that lawyers are generally less educated than the average college graduate. They often finish only two years in general studies – the equivalent of an associate degree – before entering law school to become familiar with the laws and legal procedures of their respective states.

To which I stated the following:

Absolutely untrue. You must have a 4 year degree from an accredited college to be admitted to a law school.

I am speaking in the present, to your original assertion that is not qualified by the un-sourced assertions you are now making to criticize my original statement to you as illogical and incorrect.

You clearly have no clue what you are talking about regarding attorneys.

Your assertions have no basis in fact and until you have cites you are simply an imbecile posing as an educated person.

Attorneys are generally, less well educated than other professional with college degrees. They are deficient in areas critical to analysis and, as I mentioned, maintaining stable systems, etc. As you know, lawyers have higher than market oriented incomes because they’ve exempted themselves from price fixing, among other things.

Well Roger my friend I think that you are mistaken. That is all I will say. Why do you have a problem with Sarah? Her association with McCain? That was her springboard to national prominence. Now she has a voice and from all I can read and see about her she is the real deal. Just MHO.
