If we had a Free Press in American we all would have been keenly aware of his true identity well before the 2008 election.

Absolutely. Imagine if a Republican candidate, with the question of American citizenship hanging over his head, refused to provide his/her birth cert., college records etc. etc. The press would be unrelenting in trying to get this information out in the open.

I remember the media questioning Sarah Palin’s baby, Trig and wanting to see the birth certificate.

What you said!
If it were a Republican refusing to disclose proof of qualification for the office, rags like the Wash. Compost and NYT, and the alphabet TV news advertisement vehicles would all be beating the drums for subpoenas—or impeachment!
Anyone who said that such concern for Article Two of the Constitution was a waste of time—as someone in this very thread stated—would be subject to condemnation, ridicule and public obloquy.
Why would self-described professionals who trumpet their objectivity and impartiality engage in such egregious special pleading?
We all know why. Because they in fact have no professional integrity and in truth are political propaganda organs for the Democratic party.
