Police broadcasts were the first to report that a tornado touched down in West St. Louis County. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area just west of St. Louis City.

Prayers up for all the souls who lost their lives in today’s tornadoes. Lord have mercy on them and their survivors.
Prayers up for all rescue units who are out there tonight trying to save lives.
It gives us some sobering food for thought as we close out the old year.
I just got home from a drive through the Crestwood/Sunset Hills area and it looks pretty bad out there.....
My brother lives in Sunset Hills. Fortunately his house is still standing. The tornado missed him by a matter of blocks.
I also live in Sunset Hills. The affected area is very close to me. Lot of destruction, 20 homes ruined, streets closed because of debris. Prayers for those made homeless.
What a terrible way for these folks to end the year.
Prayers up for all those affected, and for the rescuers.
I live on West Watson.
This bad boy went right up our street.
150+ winds. Literally awesome in sound and fury.
We are very fortunate. Only minor damage to our home.
The area on Lindbergh Blvd. looks like a war zone but it is gratifying to see how quickly the authorities responded, we don’t need FEMA.
The wire poles on Watson were already up yesterday mid morning. Today the firefighters, police and concerned citizens were collecting donations for the people affected.
So glad that your home received only minor damage.

Yes. Really great job by the local government, utilities, and police and fire departments. However, what helped as well as that these are...shall we say...ahem...more conservative, law-abiding, self-reliant people than...ahem...elsewhere.
We are really just getting up to speed on what actually happened, having gotten back our cable/internet/phone service only this afternoon, and thus know less about this than everyone else.
I set up a Photobucket site with shots we took, and will post the link here if anyone is interested.
Please ping me when you have your pictures up. Thanks.
I wonder if the quick response was also because the area is right next to City Hall and the Police Department.
I don’t know how conservative Sunset Hills is. During the elections, I saw too many Obama/Biden signs along Lindbergh Blvd.
Academia, firefighters and other government workers were very busy this past election.
Time to kick their behinds.
