I think that I am going to switch browsers from IE8 [since I am having an annoying little problem with it].
Will keep IE as a backup.
Now, what should I use? I have heard a few nasty things about Opera, so I am considering between FireFox and Chrome.
Any thoughts ???
but is FireFox also ‘sending info back to Mothership GOOGLE?
FireFox features unclude: “location-aware browsing (also known as “geolocation”) based exclusively on a Google service[15] and an integrated search system that uses Google by default in most localizations.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox
Firefox is a great browser, and like I said, I still use it at times. However, I find Chrome much faster.
I know that Google is actually early SKYNET, but I like the interface, I like the speed, and the time or two I clicked on a bad link without thinking, the site was blocked.
I hate Google for taking over Youtube. I lost the ability to log in my old account I had for years and now google knows my true identities. It’s too late for me, but save yourselves...
Firefox
My suggestion is to try the instructions here to temporarily disable IE add-ons and then see of the problem reproduces (scroll down to the item that says "How can I disable a browser add-on?"). If that fixes it, you can try the instructions there to permanently disable different add-ons until you find the one that is the issue.
Also, make sure you're running some antivirus and anti-spyware software. The free Microsoft Security Essentials program is pretty decent if you don't have any.
The IE 8 Javascript engine is pretty slow compared to other browsers, so if your computer is an older/slower one, it might just be that those web sites have some script that is running on key presses in a form field, and the system just isn't keeping up.
Hey, this looks great!
Thanks for posting!
Firefox, and make sure to get the AdBlock extension. It’s priceless!
Pinging myself for laters. Thanks!
I think it was Seamonkey
Tried them all:
1) Chrome : fast and memory efficient, would crash
2) Safari : would crash
3) Firefox : lots of extensions, barely ever crashed
#3 is what I fly with. Make sure you get the following options:
1) Adblock : lets you watch youtube without ads, among other things
2) Tabmix Plus : has handy stuff like “move tab to new window” and “duplicate tab to new window”
3) xmarks : syncs all bookmarks with a remote server, so all the machines you browse on have the same bookmarks. Available for all browsers.
I’ve always hated IE and used Navigator from the get-go. Swithced to FireFox and never looked back.
I’ve tried Chrome and keep wanting to like it, but I’ve never warmed up to it, even though it’s faster than FireFox. But that may be just because my Chrome has been kept fresh-out-the-box and Firefox is loaded up with links and extras.
Bottom line, FireFox does everything I want and doesn’t annoy me, so why fix what ain’t broken?
I’d try ‘em both and see what fits you. Like the man said, they’re both free.

Oh yeah, Tabmix also has a “Session Restore” feature that is way better than the one built into Firefox. Thus, I never lose any work.
Though Chrome is multi-process, and should be more stable overall in theory, I would still lose work.
You were certainly on the right track ...
Before I posted here at FR, I came across an old Microsoft Forum where the MS Engineer recommended the same thing for someone - I tried it, but it didn't work.
Yesterday I left my own post at the MS Forum and just got a response from an MS Engineer suggesting that I try to disable each Add-On one at a time to see if I could nail the sucker ...
Lo and Behold, [and unbelievably], it worked on the first one!
It was Adobe Shockwave Flash Object. I disabled it, shut down IE8, then re-started IE8. No problem at the web site like before.
I then shut down the computer and re-booted. I opened up IE8 again, went to the web site no problem!

Thanks for the suggestion !!! Much obliged !!!
I have tried Chrome. Nice little browser; BUT I dislike Google spying on me for their own leftist ends.
I use Firefox.
Thanks for the post on Tor. I followed your link and have just spent some time on their site. That is an awesome application.
For anyone with concerns about Google's data mining and traffic analysis of your web browsing, check out Tor for anonymous use of the Internet.
Mr Sol
Why be a slave to one browser? I use Safari, Camino, Firefox, Opera and Chrome, depending on my whim.
“Adobe Shockwave Flash Object”
Not surprised. Adobe Flash is horrible.
I really don’t get the hate of IE8, it’s leaps and bounds better than their predecessors. It uses fewer resources than Firepig, isn’t as finicky and I find it more reliable.
Plus it doesn’t send info back to google. What’s not to like?
Oh.... I don’t hate on IE.... I use it too for some things.
