David Weigel's Laughable Lame Duck Congress Prediction

It's the season of good cheer and if you want a really good belly laugh then check out David Weigel's August prediction in Slate that the Democrats in the lame duck session of Congress would NOT attempt to ram through legislation in the final days as their term winds down. Here is Weigel proving he is something less than another Nostradamus with his August assertion that the conservative suspicion at the time that Congress would attempt such a maneuver was really nothing but silly political paranoia:

...The latest attack comes from Republicans who demand that Democrats promise not to 1) call a lame duck session after the election or 2) pass anything substantial if they do call it.

The prediction that the libs wouldn’t rape the nation during this session was planned. The MSM was carrying the water on it in order the “calm” the people & distract them. The Dems have had their lame duck session plans in place for a long time.

What’s “laughable” (were it not so tragic) is that the people fell for it & lived in denial.

That was why a budget never go passed.

A “crisis” was going to be needed for the last minute cram down.

He's a "journolister" who found a new home...

If you didn't know who Dave Weigel was six months ago, you probably do now. In June, the journalist parted ways with his employer, the Washington Post, after some of the harsh comments he’d made about conservatives on the private JournoList listserv were made public. But the fallout seems to have been a net-gain for Weigel: His public profile shot up, MSNBC hired him as a contributor and Slate.com — owned, ironically, by the Washington Post Company — hired Weigel.

Weigel, who now has his own blog on the site, was hired, according to Slate editor David Plotz, because "he’s a ball of energy and fearlessness and curiosity."

But we're curious about him, too, and he was fearless enough to be our next "Answer This..." interview subject:
