When we bought our home no one could get a loan with less than 20% down at any bank.

We saved for 8 years to have the $7k to put down on our $34k home in 1966.

I know. Your an example of someone who did it the right way. I'm sorry that their aren't more Americans like yourself who do the right thing.

Unfortunately, we will all be pushed in the future, with debt, more taxes, higher prices, and inflation/deflation because of the stupidity and greed of others.

Bought my first home in 1998. The mortgage broker asked whether I could afford 20% down to get a "conventional loan." Wasn't entirely sure what it was at the time--but conventional sounded good--so I did it. No regrets.
