Republican voters in Rockland County ought to know the truth about their GOP County Chairman, Vincent Reda. Reda has repeatedly used his position to intimidate, and harass Republican voters to do what he says, or risk losing their county jobs. (If you ask me) Reda singlehandedly destroyed any possibility of a 2010 Republican win in New York’s Congressional District 17.
Republican voters were told to support Reda’s handpicked candidate, York Kleinhandler, over Anthony Melé for Congress. Kleinhandler proved to be a poor (some say stand-in) candidate who lost the Republican primary on September 14 to Anthony Melé.
Melé’s ascendancy to the primary win was not without fierce opposition from Republican leaders who worked desperately to break Melé for ONE desired outcome: Twenty-two year incumbent Democrat Eliot Engel stays in office and the status quo stays the same.
For Reda, keeping *himself* in power is more important than acting like a chair of a political party; enrolling voters, fielding candidates, and winning elections. Reda will have no such thing. Democrat leaders – friendly with Reda (wink, wink) — likely shook hands and thanked each other when liberal Democrat Engel wins the general election on November 2 for the 11th time in a row.
