Julian Assange is the proprietor, creator, and engineer of WikiLeaks, the incorporeal mechanism for disseminating stolen classified cables, documents, and videos owned by the United States government. Assange is not a journalist, he does not have a story, he does not write commentary, he does not supplement his pilfered images and videos with context; Assange is a computer hacker, thief, nomad, blackmailer, and a world-class nihilist devoid of allegiance to a country. He is an anthropological malignancy

From the article: “Assange is not a journalist, he does not have a story, he does not write commentary, he does not supplement his pilfered images and videos with context;”
Funny, I thought the ‘ideal’ journalist was one who conveyed facts... not tainting things with his own opinion.
I kind of like the light that is being shown on our dealings. It’s ugly and embarrassing but kind of therapeutic in a weird kind of way. Wonder what plan “B” is?
The Constitution was meant to protect United States citizens from the federal government, and that protection was certainly not intended to be extended to a foreigner, on foreign soil, who is a self-proclaimed enemy of this country.
So, because he published this stuff on the internet, and is a citizen of Australia, making no effort to hide that fact, do we declare war on Australia, or Switzerland, or Sweden or UK if they won't hand over the condom breaking perp.
So far, all I see is a bunch of folks who want to pretend they are in control whose incompetence has leaked all over the world for all to see.
A tempest in a tea pot it is. And I have not heard of any real damage to our country. Except, that is, to our illustrious politicians! Har! Blowhards all!!
How do you know?
You need to separate in your mind the concept of “country” from “government.”
They are not the same.
You’re right, it is hard to hear anything over the squealing of the politicians! All countries included!
And yet this author would probably claim the a$$hole$ in Gitmo have constitutional rights to a trial by their peers. Give me a break.
However, shining light on roaches is a good thing no matter where they are hiding. Maybe especially if they are in our very own Government.
What is really bizarre — Julian Assange is being charged by the Swedes for “condom misuse” (whatever that is).
[It was my understanding that every sexual perversion was OK in Sweden. If this is “condom misuse”, Mr. Assange must’ve flunked putting the condom on the cucumber in sex ed class. It appears he continued to fail because his Swedish partner did not bring a cucumber to put the condom on.]
>Assange is a scumbag. No two ways around it.
I never said he wasn’t; I honestly don’t know anything about the man so I couldn’t say one way or the other.
>He’s also an Australian which kinda makes the authors ranting about the 1st Amendments protection for a US Citizens freedom of speech silly.
Indeed; but my comment was more on the idea that reporters are supposed to just convey the facts and not ‘editorialize’ ... which is exactly why this author is saying that 1st Amendment protections don’t apply in his case.
>However, shining light on roaches is a good thing no matter where they are hiding. Maybe especially if they are in our very own Government.
Agreed.
Yet another reason to stay married to my wife I guess. ;-)
Note to self: Do not have sex with a Swede in Sweden. Leave the country and then have sex with a Swede.
My wife is part Danish. I have some Norwegian blood. The Swedes are safe until she gets tired of my shenanigans. ;-)
