I think that the new Unemployment Compensation extension proposed by obama, should come with an incentive for those drawing that money to find work ASAP.
For the first 6 weeks, they will have pay the lowest tax rate in the IRS code on the money received. The next 6 weeks, that rate will move to the next higher level. The following 6 weeks, the tax liability goes to the next level up. This pattern will continue until that tax rate level matches the highest tax rate that the IRS calls for.

Well, that was pretty bad, the kind of presser Napoleon might have given after Waterloo. Obama, among other things, compared Republicans to terrorists holding the American people “hostage”. That theme is bouncing around the left, indicating either an unhealthy groupthink is going on or that there’s an actual strategy at work. It’s a bad line to take, and it won’t work. Tax policy does not equal terrorism, especially in an age of actual, lethal terrorism.
Sorry, those parts will not fit on that model.

Seeing your post, the picture of the Naval Vessel in your post causes me to think about the future, and the fact that someday this asshat will have a Naval vessel named after him.
Wondering what vessel the Navy has that would warrant such embarrassment.
Dick Durban thinks the Democrats may walk out on it (which would only mean they will get a worse deal after the GOP takes over the House next year).
Well, no..... the House generates revenue bills, but they have to be passed by both houses and signed by the president before they become law.
If the Democrats are politically savvy (and they are), they will walk out on the deal, and stonewall anything they don't like in the next session. It's a perfect setup for the usual "Nice Democrats vs. Mean Republicans" gambit, and you know whose side the media will be on.
If the R's take a hard line now, it probably helps Obama and the Democrats in general.
The R's can probably get something passed and signed into law -- something that won't be perfect, but it will be better than the "nothing" that the purists will get if they insist on perfection.
And then, next year, they can do it again and get a little more.

I believe there’s many people though not by any means all that are happy as can be to be drawing that unemployment instead of working. Something like you suggest may be appropriate.
