I’m not sure what the big deal is to try to get the public more aware of their surroundings. Other than the risk of turning them into a bunch of “snitches”, which is a real risk. (And like another poster said, having the computer-aided voice repeating the warning on a loop in that Orwelian style over the loud speakers).
Ever since 9-11 I have the phone number for the FBI tipline in my pocket (866-483-5137). I carry something else in my other pocket. And am always aware of what is going on around me.
