Much has been made about the deceptive Andy Griffith commercial ostensibly about Medicare, but subliminally about "the new health care law," including a detailed breakdown by factcheck.org and our own Elena Ives.
But Griffith may just be bird dogging for a larger, more subtle effort that seems to be flying under the radar. Annnn-DEE!
PSAs (that are not on the Medicare Web site or YouTube) run constantly on cable channels featuring nice old middle class codgers talking about Medicare open enrollment and warning about Medicare fraud. Each spot contains the telltale phrase "Under the new healthcare law..." then proceeds to tell us what new wonderful benefit it brings us.
"Under the new health care law..."
Congressman Dave Camp of Michigan smelled a rat when these commercials started rolling out a few weeks before the midterm election. He wanted to know if they were targeted to close Congressional races.

Every time I see that commercial with that old fool, my blood boils. I’d happily pay $50 to see him pistol whipped and water boarded.
I’ll pay 10K to see that, but he has to be water boarded daily for a month and it has to be video taped each day and put on You Tube.
There’s another thing about this health care fraud I just learned. AARP bought United Health Care. This is according to a Humana Medicare supp. agent who was at my friend’s house the other day. She asked me to be there to interpret as I used to sell a lot of health ins/employee benefits.
I knew I hated AARP just for the fact that they started sending me letters when I was 50...how do they know that unless someone told them? And why should I be an AARP member at 50, I’m not old, am I?
Anyway, the Humana agent had to get my friend to sign all these papers to say that he didn’t pressure her and that she asked him to come to her house and that it’s OK for him to call her in the future, (it’s the law) while AARP OWNS insurance companies and takes advantage of seniors all the time, as they ARE one or several expensive insurance companies. Made me mad.
They were so FOR Obamacare.
The old man in those is usually a "nice ... codger," but the woman is always a b*tch, smugly deriding the man for his failure to "keep up" with all the wonderful benefits of obamacare.
Have we waited until too late to stand up to the extreme leftists? Sometimes I fear we have. Can you reassure me??? Are we going to make it through this?
See the thread on unemployment insurance. Big government is here to stay.
i will remember that one. thanks
AIN DEE lost me when he jumped in bed with Fonzie and Opie and cut an obama campaign...commercial....im glad i never bought any of aindee’s gospel albums....he’s a big big disappointment....
Anybody else been hearing those PSA’s encouraging us to spy/
turn each other in for medicare fraud? Heard the ad offering big bucks for spying/turning each other in for Medicare fraud?
KGB stuff big time! And like your friend Andy, it all sounds so sweet.
I’ve seen the new commercials with the old folks saying how much better Health Springs is...they don’t tell what comes down the pike come Jan though. That one makes my blood boil too, as it is false advertising.
I’ve already had 1 ortho doc turn me down because of Medicare. My primary will retire before this goes into full effect.
That bloated old coot Andy Griffith will get a rude awakening when he finds his doctor is no long accepting Medicare patients or his Viagra is no longer covered.
I doubt Andy will be hurt. He has enough money that he can pay for whatever he needs. It is the middle class person who will be hurt. They will either give up and die so something remains of their estate to pass on to their children or they will bankrupt themselves trying to find medical care.
Wonder how much money they paid Andy to sell out his fellow seniors? Blood money.
One, me. Two, you. Some troll somewhere will have to go. oh whew! I was afraid there for a while.
Do I hear 11 grand?
