Absolutely correct. We are just disguising another form of welfare. I guess we don't want to bruise liberal sensibilities.
Yes, the Libs know very well that if people who lost unemployment benefits are poor by the government’s definition (which is the only one that counts, eh?), they can apply for welfare, including food stamps, free cell phone, free bus passes, utility bill help, Medicaid and on and on.
And if the person losing unemployment is not at the poverty level such that they qualify for welfare, then, um, well, how do Libs claim they are destitute and desperate?
Of course, Libs would like to raise the poverty level again and again so that basically everyone who doesn’t have a job is eligible for welfare, no matter what their other assets or income.
And rather than do that directly, they look to do it indirectly, through infinite “insurance.”
