DeMint sets sights on four Dems in 2012 (WOO-HOO!)
The Daily Caller ^ | 12:46 PM 12/02/2010 | By Jeremy P. Jacobs

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint (R) is turning his attention to 2012 and using the vote this week on an earmark moratorium to pick his Democratic targets.

DeMint sent an email to the supporters of his Senate Conservatives Fund early Wednesday highlighting four Democrats who voted against the earmark ban, are up for re-election in 2012 and sit in states that John McCain (R) carried in 2008: Sens. Jon Tester (Mont.), Ben Nelson (Neb.), Kent Conrad (N.D.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.).

In the email, DeMint called for unseating Tester, Nelson, Conrad and Manchin.

"These senators are nice folks but they have ignored the will of the American people and they must be replaced with principled conservatives in 2012," he said. "That's where the Senate Conservatives Fund comes in and it's where you can help. We've already begun the process of building campaigns against these other liberals in the Senate who are driving our nation deeper and deeper into debt."

DeMint went on to ask for money -- stating that his fund will need "at least $4 million" to win the four races.

He is trhe best, and with Coburn’s support for Obama’s Deficit Commission tax increases we’re reminded he’s the only pure conservative we’ve had this last session in congress. He’s probably astute enough to realize his only long-shot hope for national office is probably as a pick of veep by Palin. Likewise in ‘08 Mitt’s picking him was his only longshot hope.

I love this move by him now.

This thread is about Senator DeMint. Give it a rest. Governor Palin is completely qualified. I’ll wager you haven’t read “Sarah Takes on Big Oil” or you wouldn’t have made your silly comment.

Good for you...I just read a great article on Senator DeMint in National Review and his influence on the Nov elections was profound. Not only did he form the Senate Conservatives Fund, he also donated a lot of money from his own campaign fund war chest.

The man is principled and impressive.

As Rush said yesterday, make all the people that say Palin is not qualified, say they would prefer 4 more years of ANYBODY TO PALIN then quailify it by including 4 more years of OBAMA. So is that where you are?

Not only that you say she would be a good VP, but the VP may have to be president TOMORROW.... Which proves you really gave no thought at all to your post.

By all means tell us what the quailfications are?
Mayor, governer, parent, Small Business owner...
Need I go on, or is your primary qualification a penis?
Or is it made a lot of money and a penis, which makes Soros the best candidate in the world...

Please....

Dear Jim:

So what about these Rats: Nelson (Florida), Stabenow (Michigan), Klobuchar (Minnesota), McCaskill (Missouri), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Casey (Pennsylvania), Webb (Virginia), and Kohl (Wisconsin)

And these RINO's: Lugar (Indiana), Snowe (Maine), Kay Beltway Hutchison (Texas), and Hatch (Utah)

They can all be had, and this would give us a 60 votes in the Senate.

You're setting your sights too low, my friend.

/Zak

I agree. I will contribute-—when correct, conservative candidates are announced.

I don’t think it should take a fund of $4 million to “find’ such candidates.

I admire DeMint more with each passing day. I hope he’s pro-Palin.

Me too! Maybe this is the rational way to start the cleanup.

Sorry about Palin to you fans. She is not qualified

Well, you certainly have the establishment talking points down...did you come up with all that on your own?

LOL

You are in for a surprise. Anyone who has read her or knows her record knows she is probably the MOST qualified and has the experience, integrity, courage, strength of her convictions, and life history to govern this nation.

As Mayor she was so good she was elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. Her record was so stellar (under her leadership Wasilla became the fastest growing city in America)she was elected Governor ousting a sitting incumbent of her own party, defeating the corrupt old boys club. Some went to jail.

While Governor she had approval ratings in the 90's and was named America's Most Popular Governor. Her horrible record of governance led to her being picked for the national ticket. Up until that point she was as popular with democrats as she was republicans, because she really was good at governing.

And yet, after a couple years of Alinskyite defamation, we have conservatives believing the leftist lies about her. Sad.

As I said, you are in for a surprise.

I would add McCaskill-MO, Webb-VA, and Sherrod Brown-OH. Bill Nelson-FL, Kohl-WI, Bingaman-NM, Casey-Pa could be defeated with the right candidates.

I could see Bachmann running against Klobuchuckle.

that would probably end up the most expensive senate race in history.

Arm up now.

Your list is much better, but DeMint has to start somewhere and he started with the earmark vote in the lameduck session.

I am willing to give him time!

You know, she is not an Ivy Leaguer with a stronger pedigree, plus probably that she is missing a Johnson. Wonder why Hillary was presidential? Just asking.

Even John Cornyn seems to have gotten religion when it comes to earmarks:

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/254252/cornyn-looks-2012-robert-costa

He told NRO “all incumbents need to be prepared for primaries.” he also stated incumbents better not count on help from the NRSC for primary help.

Guess he does not want to be on the wrong side of a Rubio-Crist situation again.

Yes, he’s the pride of South Carolina!

The other Senator, not so much (Linsey Graham - up for targeting in 2014)

To: who knows what evil?

I agree. But, in the Senate everyone must show “comity” even to the communists. If he does not, DeMint might be subject to some sort of super secret codicil that provides for some type of perverted corporal punishment for those that do not follow the rules. The Senate is a weird cliquey, clubby place with their own culture and rules.
