Our family is working very hard to be prepared. We're not "fantasizing" about a "Mad Max world", we just do the simple math that tells us that serious trouble could be ahead. There's nothing we would like more than for us to never have to use our emergency food supply, just like we don't want our home to burn down to collect the insurance money.

And part of this prepping activity has included a stronger emphasis on physical fitness - which pays us dividends every single day.

If I had to bet money I would bet that the US declines to about where India or Turkey is today, and everybody can still go to the beloved grocery store. The change may even be sufficiently gradual that we never even notice as we (and our children) become beggars.

In the meantime, I prepare for something worse than that - accumulating emergency food, protecting it, and feathering nests both inside and outside the US. It has proven to be both fulfilling and, and has rewarded me with many fine new friends of like mind.

There’s great wisdom in your words and perspective though I think the milder scenario has no chance.

Though I could see the Lord protecting a SOMEWHAT milder than general situation where a great majority of authentic Christians are.
