The fact that Albany park is home to influential Chicago Democrats and has a severe garbage problem should surprise no one. When you have a preponderance of people who thinks that they’re “owed” something, then you have a lot of people who cannot see any reason why they should worry about garbage or anything else.
It doesn’t have a severe garbage problem. It has the same garbage problem most areas of Chicago have and is not nearly as bad as many areas on the south and west sides.
At most Jan Schakowsky has only a small corner of Albany Park. It’s mostly Luis Gutierrez territory—the gerrymandering in the city means that few neighborhoods are not split between congressional districts.
O’Connor only has a small portion—Dick Mell is THE alderman for Albany Park.
