My mother-in-law is my bellweather independent voter. She can't stand Obama, but doesn't like Palin at all. I asked her what she will do if it's Obama v Palin in 2012 and she said she'd stay home.

Huck—this is a serious question. Why does she dislike Palin. I’m curious.

As you say, she is like a bellwhether—maybe we can get a peek into what is a major hurdle for a Palin candidacy.

The thing about anecdotal evidence is we all have it and we look to our own as a bellwether of sorts - so we just cancel each other out.

I also have a mother-in-law, and a father-in-law. They’re in their 80’s and never voted for a Republican, ever, until 2008 - and again in 2010. They are now to the point where they are willing to vote for any Republican who runs against OBAMA - including Sarah.

And, by staying home she elects zero for another 4 years. Yeah, that really helps our country doesn’t it? Try explaining this to her.
