Is there some law that says all electric cars have to look like crap? Who would pay $45,000 for an ugly hunk of junk with a 100 mile glide path? Answer: A few whackjobs in CA.
When you plug in that car for 5-6 hours at night what do you think is generating the electricity to charge it up? How about a Coal fired refinery.
The auto industry needs to get off its butt and build something the American Public wants. How about large and midsize SUV’s that run on Hydrogen? Hydrogen is the way to go not electric.
You been reading my prior posts? Awhile back I proposed
sticking “Coal Powered” and “Nuke Powered” stickers on
electric cars. I'm not too sure about hydrogen. There are
some misconceptions about it. It's not the “free lunch”
that some think it is, but might make a good way to store
energy created by other mean. I've been keeping up on what
I can find on the fuel cells used in AIP (air independent
propulsion system) submarine tech. The Germans are doing a
great job with this which may explain why they show little
interest in the battery type hybrid cars. They may be
biding there time waiting for the tech to trickle down.
One of my friends heads the physics dep. at the local
college and claims that the battery and hybrid cars will be
more damaging to the environment in the long run than
conventional internal combustion. Of course the poly-sci
types know better than a Doc of physics!
