“The norks are still fielding primarily T-55s and T-62s.”

My point exactly. Tanks from the 1950s and ‘60s.

“There are similar disparities in aircraft (i.e. F-5s and F-16s vs. Mig 17s and 19s although I do believe they have a few 29s as well.”

The Mig-29 dates back to the ‘80s, but geez, the 17 and 19 were around in the 1950-53 conflict.

Of course, you know the saying: Even a rusty knife can kill.

the Norks showing the world what an impotent spineless loser the boy really is...

the only surprise to me is that it took this long for them to do it

“China will not permit it—they have a great deal of voice in North Korea.”

True. After South Vietnam fell in April 1975, Kim Il Sung thought that his chance had finally arrived. He went to Beijing to get support for an invasion of SK, but Mao Zedong told him “No way dude.”

As far as today’s situation, a war would cause a huge mess, economic disruption, and mass refugees streaming into China, so yeah, they probably would object.

Obama would have to act. Americans will die in the first wave of attacks. If Obama chose to do nothing he would be impeached within a week.

The minute the norks try to cross the border hell will be turned loose on north Korea. The question no one is asking is why is great leader goading the south? I would be more concerned with what china is thinking.

"Nuclear Terror" ping.

Low, increasing volume ping list covering atomic/nuclear/thermonuclear terrifying events and discussions.

FReepmail me if you want on or off The Comedian's "Nuclear Terror" ping list...

In a North vs. South contest, I think a huge difference is in the size of their respective back-up arsenals. North K. has the Chicoms, their humongous arsenal and the Chicom leaders, who would NOT mind spilling someone else’s blood; just like back in the ‘50s.

South K. has some sort of arsenal, perhaps some minimal back-up of arms from the U.S. and all the honor, bravery and dependability of BHO. You’re right. South Korea is screwed!

Just as it was in the middle of the last century: If conflict breaks out on the Korean penninsula, NK is not the country you need to be worried about.

I truly wish I could believe that. I’d like to believe it. But when I look at what our commander-in-cheap has been doing so far in other theaters of action; I feel that the chances are slim and none. And slim just rode out of town.......leaving what?

If NK invades, SK should just step aside and let them rush in complete with banners, parades, welcome home music, buffet tables full of food, big smiles, slaps on the back ....THE WORKS!

The NK army would be totally confused leaving the NK leadership powerless.

There are tactical nukes in SK.

The US withdrew tactical nuclear weapons from South Korea in 1991

As I have stood next to many SK soldiers during my short Naval visits there, I can surely tell you SK will kick some serious ass.

Those boys don’t play well with others.

Yes and no. Their test have been basically "fizzles." One of three things is happening. 1 - Their design is crude and too unwieldy for proper detonation or deployment. 2 - Their plutonium is not sufficiently pure for the proper yield. 3 - They're completely faking underground nuclear tests with large quantities of high explosives.

I happen to think it's a combination of 1 and 2, but it won't be long until they figure it out if they remain unchecked. That's especially true if they work in conjunction with Iran, as some suspect they are.

Or your local Hyundai dealer has to close because he can’t get any new cars to sell.

NK is going to nuke Alabama?

Obama has said he would not retaliate even if a US city were nuked...

If that's the case, then would it be wrong to hope that Obama is in the city that gets it?

Since I have family over there I am also praying. The general feeling is that there will be war sooner or later.

They assemble some cars in the US, but aren’t a lot of the parts made in Korea?

“But a whole lotta people would die’’. Doubt that. Doubt that very much. What I see happening is every North Korean soldier go running for the nearest foreign embassy, Western, Asian , East European, anywhere they can get to trying to get out.
