How Huckabee Could Stop President Palin
Frum Forum ^ | November 22nd, 2010 at 10:22 am | David Frum

Posted on 11/22/2010 11:01:13 PM PST by onyx

A nightstick the size of a telephone pole and the muscle to wield it effortlessly.

Mike Huckabee, who knows a thing or two about insurgent campaigns, sees the power of the Palin candidacy. Taegan Goddard links this morning to the Des Moines Register:

Mike Huckabee told the Des Moines Register that Sarah Palin would be a strong contender for president should she decide to run.

Said Huckabee: “No question, she will be a very, very strong presence and force, if she gets in. You know, she may run away with it. And that’s one of those things everyone needs to be prepared for.

Huckabee’s words are more than an observation. They are a warning. And they are a warning especially to be heeded because they come from the one politician who can probably do most to stop Palin, the candidate best positioned to win Iowa.

Huckabee himself is also persona non grata with party leaders, because of his repeated criticism of Wall Street and Wall Street minded GOP insiders.

But Huckabee is a very different cat from Sarah Palin. He’s smart and policy-minded. And while he expresses a strong social conservative message, he does not play the politics of division, disparagement, and resentment in which Palin specializes.

In the days of party conventions, the answer to the Palin problem would have been obvious: party leaders would assemble and force the mutually mistrustful Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee onto the same ticket.

In modern times, the game is played differently, but the structure of the situation remains the same: an early Huckabee pact with a candidate acceptable to Republican donors (if not Romney, then Tim Pawlenty or even Jeb Bush) would command enough clout to push Palin off the stage.

If not, all bets are off. As I think about it, that’s one of the big problems with the candidacies of a Thune, a Daniels or a Barbour: They will need Huckabee as much or more than Romney does.

Yet Huckabee is also a re-elected governor, plus he won the second largest haul of delegates last time. Why should he defer to any of the lower-polling governors? And who will make him?

Frum is a two-faced jerk. He writes like a lib and his garbage isn’t even fun to read. My guess is that HuckaRINO drafted this article for Frum to run with.

HuckaRINO will never be in the White House, at best.... he will be a good spoiler.

I am convinced that Palin is better than even her supporters recognize.... I am one of those supporters.

If Palin runs, and I believe she will, she will run for what she believes in, for the American People and for love of country. Romney and HuckaRINO will run for power and the love of themselves.

Palin has never lied to me. She takes pride in telling the truth, even when it hurts. Both Romney and HuckaRINO have lied to all of America. I would list some of those lies, but it’s late and I have a tired brain. ;>)

I’ve noticed that no matter how great a case you make for Palin, or no matter how deeply flawed their RINO/establishment favorite is, they won’t budge. I use “won’t budge” to be kind. Usually they run off to troll another thread.

If he’s running, then he better quit his TV show.

However, since FReepers hate Romney, she stands a good chance of lots of support.

I directed you to the poll's headline at the Blaze.

Obama Losing to Romney in 2012 Presidential Poll; Palin Would Win GOP Primary

Crickets?

FYI - Jim Robinson clearly stated that there will be no Romney campaigning here, so your statement that FReepers hate Romney is out of line. We are totally against the liar's policies and he's not a conservative by any stretch. romneycare is obamcare and Romney is also pro-homosexual marriage and he was pro-abortion, so he has the blood of innocents on his hands.

I remember that because my daughter lives on Grand Cayman Island. She didn’t attend his speech, but IIRC he was paid $40K. All very unusal.

Right. I agree with that. He uses that TV show of his to smooch liberal butt. Whoopie’s included.

I agree with you. She was magnificent on Hannity’s tonight. She is refreshingly honest and straight forward. I love her Alaskan series too. She’s invited us into her family to see them as they really are. My opinion of her keeps growing all the higher and I didn;t think that was possible.

Yeah, she was a co-host of CBC Radio's As It Happens and she used to anchor CBC televsion's national nightly news program The National.

She died in 1992 of leukemia.

How cruel and low you are.

It was my bright idea to asked onyx to post that picture so I'm the cruel and low "you".
Might I humbly suggest you loosen up a little, by looking back at some of your archived post, you seem to be wound up rather tight when it comes to humor.
The picture was proudly put out by Mike Huckabee himself, BTW.

LOL. Getting him off his TV show will be the one saving grace. He’s gotten to be almost as sickening as Geraldo.

I haven’t gotten any phone calls like that, but when they’re making random calls like that, they’re testing the political waters.

While I didn’t care for her politics, her death was untimely. I’m sure she was a decent woman.

Yeah, it was untimely and came as a shock. I didn’t care for her politics either, but I recall her on-air candor. She seemed fair and decent.

Your profile says: “I am hated by the Palin bots on this site, but that is fine with me!”

Interesting admission. I don’t “hate” those that may not like Palin. However, I am disgusted with trolls, fools, snits, and folks that support the MSM lies about Palin.

As for hate, well, I do hate libs, traitors, RINO’s and anyone that does not support my country.... but I repeat myself.

Oh, and about that “mocking” thing that you find “sickening”.... you better sit near the window when you see me on a thread that mentions that rodent, Huckadip, because mocking him is one of my favorite things to do. Well, that and mocking his idiot supporters.

Happy Thanksgiving.....
