Actually, since I can’t get the Beretta Neos, I was thinking about a S&W Ladysmith .38. But I still want a .22 to learn and practice with! Any suggestions?

I just bought the Henry Golden Boy Lever Action .22. You can go with the Ruger 10/.22 for less, but with the Henry, you feel like you’re holding a bit of history. DON’T scope it. Learn to shoot it...

Ooops. You’re talking pistols. I would go with the Ruger with the extended barrel. The exact model escapes me at the moment.

if the 38 you want to buy is a snub nose, remmber it has alot of rcoil, Iconvinced my wife to get a 380 bersa, alot less recoil and still enough knock down power to do the job of detering an intruder, if someone tells you it does’nt have enough knockdown power tell them to put a 380 round into a 2 by 4 and look at the damage.

EAA offers a very fine .357 snubby with rubber grip for a very reasonable price (search 'Windicator'). Load it with .38 Spcl +P hollowpoints for personal defense. Practice with .38 spcl rounds.

I have found the earlier Phoenix Arms .22lr semi-autos, 10 round magazine, to be very reliable and quite accurate. You can put the five inch barrel on for target practice and carry it with a three inch barrel. Either way it is a tack driver and reliable, in my experience. Buy the pistol for under $150 and order a five inch barrel and extra mag with finger hold for under fifty. Great little guns in stainless or blued (I recommend the blued in the newer models).
