Did you catch part 3 of Brit Hume’s special on the rise of Conservatism today? If now I recommend it since it covers Reagan and serves as a great reminder of just how much Sarah and Reagan share at this point in their careers, he was a fighter, too, and greatly underestimated and ridiculed.

I don’t remember underestimating or ridiculing Ronald Reagan when I voted for him in 1980.

Ronald was a great man, and while the opposition thought he was too far right to win the nomination, and he was attacked by the left for a lack of intellect, it was all posing, as they knew better.

He was an accomplished actor, with a stellar career. He also worked his way up to being President of the Screen Actor’s Guild, which he served for years: “Issues - Guild, national, and international - during Reagan’s presidencies and board terms, 1946 - 1960, were among the most vast and complicated in the Guild’s history”

He then was elected Governor of the most populous state in the country, and served that state well, proving his ability as an electable leader.

The guy had a resume as long as his strong arms — when he ran for President, NOBODY could question his ability to lead this country.

I get a little tired of this story that Reagan wasn’t expected to be able to be a leader.
