Mystery missile launch': Chinese missile test or airline contrail?

Hosted by imgur.comA report posted today at a CNN website claims the "mystery missile launch" on Monday was actually a Chinese missile test. According to the report:

China flexed its military muscle Monday evening in the skies west of Los Angeles when a Chinese Navy Jin class ballistic missile nuclear submarine, deployed secretly from its underground home base on the south coast of Hainan island, launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from international waters off the southern California coast. WMR’s intelligence sources in Asia, including Japan, say the belief by the military commands in Asia and the intelligence services is that the Chinese decided to demonstrate to the United States its capabilities on the eve of the G-20 Summit in Seoul and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Tokyo, where President Obama is scheduled to attend during his ten-day trip to Asia.

However, the report - placed on CNN's user-generated iReport site - has yet to be vetted or confirmed by CNN, and is full of un-named, unquoted sources. The only link provided goes to a site with basically the same report - again, with no corroboration.

The source of the report is one Wayne Madsen, who once claimed Wikileaks was a CIA operation, and that Al-Qaeda was a front for the military-industrial complex.

No other news organization is reporting the incident as part of a Chinese missile test at this time.

A much less sinister explanation is provided by a site called "Contrail Science".

According to a report at that site, the CBS camera crew probably captured Flight AWE808 from Hawaii to Phoenix, and the perspective of the the viewer made the contrail appear to be a ballistic missile being launched, possibly, from a submarine.

The site reports a very similar incident:

An interesting contrail cropped up off the coast of San Clemente, Orange County, California on December 31st 2009. The curious shape led.......

"... the EMP theory was just grabbing at straws."

So is the entire 'Chinese Missile' theory, but you're welcome.

Why did our military take 48 hours to "explain" the situation?"

See, we "conspiracy theorists" are much more succinct.

I consider some older sub technology as a hobby, I have only vague conceptions of what is POSSIBLE but there is subs that go far beyond diesel electric, even the Germans had a primitive fuel cell sub at the end of WW2.And subs don’t have to have humans on board, they could be placed years ahead of time.

And the Japanese also had literally a submarine that launched aircraft with a watertight hanger, two of them as a matter of fact.

Now if a person was to really take off on a conspiracy theory what if this is a Captain Nemo situation? A rogue sub, possibly funded by Islam, built in North Korea, hidden under or inside a Chinese tanker and then “deployed” inside SOSUS waters?

Its been done by everyone, what better way for a sub to be inserted near a coastline than for it to be dropped from an underwater cradle?

I would love to write a book about this, maybe Patrick Robinson or Tom Clancy will.

If this was a rocket launch it was ours, why won’t the Pentagon say why? It could be better strategically to not say anything, let our enemies think we are weak, confused and disoriented from the highest level of the chain of command, which of course we are.

We are sending the best propaganda right now to the world by NOT saying what it was.

Or Obama would do what? You kidding me?
A foreign sub out 35 miles off our shore is not breaking
any laws, anyway. Why would a non-American president care
about the United States?

Where's the newly elected Tea Party candidates who've just won their races? Why aren't they demanding answers on behalf of patriotic Americans tired of Obama's lies?

As still private citizens with no security clearances, they're about to get as far as me on the phone to the Pentagon.

. a bunch of folks confused by the perspective of one video.

We might have two. This second video is unconfirmed.

Mystery Missle off the coast of Southern California Nov 7,2010

Unconfirmed because the date in the title is wrong, but in the comments he stated it occurred on the night of the 8th. Looks similar. If it was the same missile my guess is he was located somewhere near Santa Barbara when he shot the video.

Your seemingly derogatory inference to “Tea Party candidates” is noted.

That is correct, our nation is almost at the cusp of turning in a new direction, it may be our strongest time and also our weakest.

We will have many in power right now just not giving a damm, like an employee that has just been given his pink slip of termination but has to spend the rest of the day still on the clock.

If I was an evil society hell bent to gain power over the evil Satanical non believers I would attack them during a shift change, when the ones leaving work are too tired and the ones arriving are still half asleep or are untrained.

Spot on. There lies the challenge we face two years from today as we replace a president.

I pray to see my son get his HS diploma in 2014.

Full Screen
.10 clear separation
.13 TWO clearly visible contrails
Someone explain to me what is going on between .09 and .30

because I have never seen a jet separate into stages.
And Hardraade, it looks like a missile that malfunctioned to me as well. This is the first time I have done a second by second, frame by frame look. The only point we might disagree on is where. It wouldn’t have mattered where. obumma had his emergency government ready to go.
The guys at NORAD and NorthComm were caught absolutely flatfooted by this. I bet it takes them a month to clean the pee and poop off the floor and laundry. It was too close for them to respond in any way whatsoever. Had it NOT malfunctioned, we would be looking straight into the abyss.
Pull that vid down and break it up into frames from .09 to .16.
We came THAT close.

Monday Morning
For the past three days, the giant cruise ship Carnival Splendor — with a small city of nearly 4,500 passengers and crewmembers aboard — has been without power 55 miles off the coast of Punta San Jacinto, disabled by an engine fire Engine-room fire on cruise ship leaves passengers marooned at sea
5:41 PM November 8, 2010
The blaze erupted about 6 a.m. as the 952-foot luxury liner was about 55 miles west of Punta San Jacinto on the first leg of a seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise that departed from Long Beach on Sunday.
I trained at Long Beach. TONS of cargo containers are off and onloaded there.
So can I be forgiven if I say that an engine room fire on a cruise ship the size of a small town with 4500 people on board on THAT place at THAT time is a tad too coinkidink for me to swallow?

The video of the billowing trail, made at around 5 p.m. Monday by a KCBS-TV news helicopter north of Santa Catalina Island,

Images are Punta San Jacinto, Baja California, Mexico
Cruise ship was 55 miles out

Engine fire distraction to get the attention of the captain and crew off other things that might have been happening? Or another isolated incident that didn’t go as planned???

I think it was timed for maximum political leverage. Consider...
Obama was in India(to pressure Chinese)
going to G20(to pressure Chinese)
Military says we know nothing...then silence.
I know nothing, but I infer, a completely timed and planned occurance.

That a very interesting video you have there.

It says the 7th in the title but in the video information area it says ‘filmed last light’ and the upload was on the 9th. It could match by date.

If its the same event it looks like it was shot from north Malibu maybe Ventura.

As a professional videographer and someone who has seen more than a few launches, I’m convinced it was a rocket moving away from the camera.

Right. While in the Navy we would regularly track Soviet subs within 3 miles of Point Loma

The Soviets are long gone. We now face Russians, Chinese and Indians with cruise missiles far more capable then ours. And we have idiot politicians that are trying to steal billions of dollars from them.

Actually the is quite a bit of activity in the area. I have been in Santa Barbara and Oxnard most of this week. I have noticed high performance aircraft making high altitude runs offshore during the day. Unusual activity in the area all week.

Pshaw. We routinely tracked Soviet subs 3 miles off Point Loma in the early 80’s. We almost got our fantail ripped off when one sob broke the surface as soon as we cleared San Diego Bay from 32nd Street.

That was posted last night on another thread. Not by me. See #422 on this thread Exploding the “That Wasn’t A Missile” Myth

If that is the same event, the plane theory is dead. Missile arcing toward the setting sun. Arcing west, not east. At any rate, if you know anything about lighting at all, you know the plane theory is dead.

The chem-trial was shaped like con-trails, which was shaped like a missile being launched....We see this all the time....This common optical illusion we see, which appears as rockets being launched on Los Angeles from every angel possible. This is why so many people became hysterical, and became such big news...Is only because this is so common, and is often seen on a daily basis.

Stage separation, frame 1306. There are better frames, but siglestepping the thing eats a *lot* of mem this far out in the clip. Like wading in molasses.
