School employees on the whole have not saved taxpayers money through contract concessions and have remained relatively shielded from Michigan's economic downturn. Michigan's teachers are the nation's highest-paid when compared to state wealth.

Anyone who believes involvement by any level of government in any matter that involves money will be more efficient than myriad private operations should simply move to Detroit and spare the republic.

Well, I think teachers and LEO should be our highest paid public employees. Note: NOT the administration people, but those on the front lines protecting and educating us. Waste disposal and sewage treatment people should make a decent wage, but not comparable to our LEO and teachers. Now what that pay should be is up to the individual local areas (States rights, local rule, that kind of thing).
Just my humble opinion . . . .
