Most of us remember well Hans Christian Anderson's delightful tale of the emperor who searched far and wide for the very finest clothes, suits of golden fabric and silver threads, clothes so perfect, so exquisite that they can be seen and appreciated only by those fit for the positions they hold. Only those operating above their skills and the hopelessly stupid fail to see the stunning colors, the shimmering waves of color, the lustrous styling.
Just as in Lake Woebegone, where all the children are above average, so to are the Emperor's courtiers, his staff, the academics and elite of the day truly extraordinary. Each of them sees the beauty of the cloth, the perfection of the fit, the beauty of the artistry adorning their emperor. The appreciation spreads, almost virally, driven by the repetition and strength of the adoring comments. It becomes a universal enthusiasm of early 19th century Copenhagen society.
The emperor, being an incredibly intelligent man and certain of his own abilities as the leader of his people, is wildly enthusiastic about the weavers' magic and awestruck by the look created by the fabric hanging on his magnificent body. Fevered with pride, he creates an opportunity to parade his sartorial and intellectual brilliance for the appreciation of all his citizens.
President Obama, 2010 In Anderson's tale, a young boy breaks the spell of the crowd massed for the emperor's parade, "But he has nothing on at all! The emperor has no clothes." Soon, the cry is taken up by all the others who, reassured that their neighbors, not all of whom could be incompetent or hopelessly stupid, obviously saw what they themselves could finally admit. Their own eyes weren't lying; the emperor was completely nude. The emperor, caught between embarrassments, recognized that he was in fact, stark naked for all to see. To save face before his subjects, he chose to carry on without hesitation, acting as though nothing at all was wrong.
President Obama stands before the American people today, wearing nothing more than a teleprompter script.
The question is, does he recognize his own nakedness? Is he attempting to carry on to save face? Or is he completely mesmerized by his own golden words and silver phrases, sadly unable to see that he stands before us uncovered by anything of substance even as the crowd begins to recognize that he has no clothes?
Our President has nothing on at all.
It’s a universal joke that PC has played on us; and now we’re too embarrassed to admit this too...
;)
Get It!
Thank you for a very well written and well thought out contribution to Free Republic.
We’ve had so many earnest, well meaning individuals who have felt compelled to write and to speak out, and that’s a good thing, don’t get me wrong, but command of the English language has clearly not been their strong suit.
So, this is refreshing. Don’t be a stranger.
the fairy tales were meant to educate the young - and the old - providing a warning: when you see these things - this is what is happening. No fairy tale fits better - like a glove.
Is he carrying on hoping the people will once again see his splendor? Does he even know he's ‘necked as a blue jay?
If he does catch a glimpse in the mirror and see that he is indeed naked, and that the world sees him thus, will he come unglued - how does a narcissist handle such a fall?
By running away to more adulant climes, as we've seen.
Or, by lashing out, again as we've seen.
The full bore vindictiveness is yet to come.
Now write one about the Frog Prince.
Obama is not the only one without clothes.
The MEDIA has lied to keep their other liberal heroes safe but they have never had to go this far before now.
Rush Limbaugh argues that it makes no difference if this clown is trying to screw the country on purpose or if he is a total idiot, either way he has to go.
The answer to this strikes at the heart of who Obama is. Is Obama your typically ill-informed, well-meaning liberal who cannot successfully employ logic or attack action to consequence to save his life? Or is he the neocolonialist of D’souzas book, intent on destroying what he considers to be the American malignancy?
It does not matter because TV, Hollywood and the print media cover for him. Thank idiots who watch TV for empowering this evil POS.
The joke is on us.
Rush is right. He is a fraud, everyone knows it but it really does not matter. TV, Hollywood, the media, papers and his skin coloring cover for him.
If he was a black conservative then his skin coloring would offer no protection.
He reminded me from Day One of a southern tent revival evangelist. Does Steve Martin and “Leap of Faith” mean anything to ya? They go on in elevated voice tones and platitudes. You have been had by this worm, America!
The President is wearing no clothes at all. Furthermore, he is like the Queen whose sentiment was “Then let them eat cake!” - while he lives like a king, spending obscene amounts of money on delicacies while the rest of us struggle to pay the taxes to bankroll him and his entourage. - He has to actually know WHY he and his entourage took a “shellacking” last Tuesday; but in his mind, he has done us a favor and is wearing fine duds. When the new bunch of conservative leadership begins to undo the excesses of the last four years, he and his cheerleaders in the MSM will paint them as “trying to starve grandma”, “take away the FREE healthcare that I’VE given you”, and “deprive the children of the education that they must have to compete”. Obama will then take ALL the credit whenever the new conservative policies start taking a practical effect. They will have to have support and encouragement to withstand the siren’s song of the Beltway and the demonization beating that the commies in Obama’s Administration, including the press, will throw at them.
That he's just an0ther puppet? And not even the fav!
This gives me an idea for the Tea Parties. When the media and the Dems start their Grandma routine, get a bunch of tea party grandmas (and they are legion) and have them gather in strategic places and proclaim that they are grandmas and want the budget cuts for their grandchildren. The left will have a cow.
