Fukino may have been a political appointee, but not Alvin T. Onaka, Ph.D., or Spokesbabe Okubo. Onaka’s service in the department preceded Lingle’s election to office, and spokesbabes are generally part of an administrative staff that may or may not change with a new appointee. Also, your speculation doesn’t take into account that any new Democrats in Hawaii may want to distance themselves from Obama. A great way to do that would be to publicly disclose his records.

It shouldn't require a subpoena. The law allows them to make disclosures to meet the public interest, which they have admitted ... in spades.
