I don’t think it was just “Nazi Bastards” that died in the firestorm of Dresden. Thousands upon thousands of German refugees fleeing the Russian onslaught (particularly the women who were getting raped and butchered by the Soviets) had fled to Dresden as it was not a military target. Unfortunately, the allies decided to bomb these civilian targets into oblivion. Does the wonton killing of one civilian population make things right somehow?
Indeed it does. The purpose of war is to kill people and break things until the enemy sues for peace. Killing civilians is a good way to make the populace desire that very peace and turn against their warmongering overlords.
This is a fact of war. Stop whining.
The blood of Dresden is solely on the hands of Schickelgruber and Company.
When a country starts a world war (the 2nd one they started in 25 years) and one loses, yet again, well, expect to reap the whirlwind. Especially when they called everyone in the occupied territories of the east (Untermenschen) subhumans! I have no sympathy for the incinerated in Dresden. Only those at Auschwitz, and Treblinka, and Sobibor, and Belzec, and Majdanek and Kulmhof am Ner and on and on and on. There is no moral equivalence between bombing Dresden and bombing Warsaw.
Fewer nazis=a good thing! Nazi Germany deserved every bomb they got. They deserved the A bomb.
Germany is lucky they weren’t annihilated like the Morgenthau plan called for. They deserved that too.
